π About Dexter
Dexter is a sweet, gentle 9-year-old Cavalier who is looking for a calm and understanding forever home. He enjoys being close to his people and loves companionship, particularly from men. Although he is not an overly cuddly dog, he prefers affection on his own terms.
Despite being deaf, Dexter has adapted remarkably well and responds very effectively to hand signals. He already knows how to sit and give a paw, and he enjoys interacting with his people and being included in day-to-day life.
Dexter travels beautifully in the car and enjoys outings. He walks nicely on the lead overall, although he can occasionally be a little stubborn and decide he would rather choose the route himself! Due to his mobility issues, longer walks may require the use of a buggy so he can rest comfortably when needed.
He settles well at home, sleeps happily on his own bed in the bedroom overnight, and generally ignores other dogs when out and about. Dexter could live as an only dog or alongside a calm existing dog.
Dexter is currently overweight and has already started his weight loss journey in foster care. Keeping him slim will be extremely important for his long-term comfort, mobility, and quality of life.
