Many Cavaliers entering rescue require extensive veterinary treatment, long-term medication and
specialist care before they can safely begin their next chapter.
Complex Care
Many Cavaliers require pre-anaesthetic blood tests and echocardiograms before any treatment can safely begin.
Life Support
Some Cavaliers remain under our Lifelong Support Adoption scheme, allowing medically complex and senior dogs to remain safely in permanent homes while Bliss supports agreed long-term care.
Chronic Pain
Over 70% of Cavaliers in our rescue population showed signs consistent with Chiari-like malformation pain or syringomyelia, often requiring lifelong medication.
Dental Care
68% of Cavaliers entering rescue required dental treatment with extractions. A typical dental procedure costs the rescue around £900 per dog.
Some Cavaliers Never Truly Leave Us
Some of the Cavaliers who come into our care are elderly, medically complex, or living with lifelong conditions that make rehoming more difficult.
Through our Lifelong Support Adoption scheme, these dogs can remain safely in loving permanent homes while Bliss continues to contribute towards long-term care for pre-existing conditions.
This support is funded entirely through donations and enables some of the breed’s most vulnerable dogs to experience the comfort, stability, and retirement they deserve.
