- Time able to be left alone: Short periods only. Jura loves company and benefits from the reassurance of another dog.
💗 About Jura
Jura is a gorgeous 4-year-old Cavalier who came into rescue from a breeding background and is now learning all about life as a much-loved companion dog.
She is a lovely little character who is nervous in some situations but also has a confident streak and very much likes to do things in her own way, in her own space and in her own time.
Jura needs adopters who understand that she may not immediately want to be pushed into new situations or interactions. Given patience and the freedom to make her own choices, she is beginning to show just how affectionate and loving she can be.
She absolutely loves cuddles and, once you sit down, Jura will often come over to climb onto your knee. Human company is very important to her and she enjoys simply being close to the people she trusts.
Jura is completely house trained and will let you know when she needs to go outside.
She is starting to learn to walk on a lead and is making progress, but this is still something her adopter will need to continue working on gently and positively. She will need patience while she gains confidence with walks and the wider world.
Car journeys are a different story altogether — Jura loves travelling. She is very calm in the car and will happily settle down and go to sleep during journeys.
Jura likes other dogs and takes confidence from canine company. Because of her breeding background and the reassurance she gains from other dogs, she must live with at least one suitable, confident resident dog in her new home.
She has not been tested with cats, so we cannot confirm whether she could safely live with them.
Jura is nervous around children, so she needs a home where her space and boundaries will be respected and where she will not feel overwhelmed. Resident and visiting children need to be over 12 years.
At night, Jura settles beautifully. She is happy sleeping downstairs on the sofa or snuggling up on the bed. More than anything, she loves companionship and feeling that she is part of the family.
Jura is looking for an understanding home that will allow her to continue blossoming at her own pace. She does not need to be rushed; she simply needs patience, consistency, gentle encouragement and the support of another confident dog.
🐾 Health & Medical Needs
🧠 Chiari Malformation & Syringomyelia: Jura has been diagnosed with Chiari Malformation and syringomyelia. Her pain is currently managed with medication and this treatment will need to continue in her new home.
💊 On medication? Yes. Jura currently takes Gabapentin and Galliprant for pain management.
🦷 Dental treatment: Jura has recently had her teeth cleaned and has also had some teeth removed.
✂️ Spayed? Yes. Jura has been spayed while in rescue.
Her adopter will need to continue her prescribed medication and attend routine veterinary reviews as required. She is up to date with vaccinations and parasite preventatives.
🧠 Behaviour & Personality
🐾 Behaviour traits: Affectionate, cuddly, independent, sensitive and increasingly confident. Jura likes to make her own choices and needs people who will allow her to approach new situations in her own time.
🎾 Activity level: Moderate – Jura is beginning to enjoy walks but is still developing confidence on the lead.
📚 Training required: Continued gentle lead training, confidence building and positive exposure to new experiences. Jura should never be rushed or forced into interactions she is uncomfortable with.

🏡 Type of home required: A calm, patient and understanding home with at least one confident resident dog. Jura needs adopters who understand dogs from breeding backgrounds and are happy to let her continue developing confidence at her own pace.
