Adoption Procedure

• The non-refundable adoption fee is currently £525 – this only partially covers any veterinary treatment, food, transportation etc the dogs have received while in rescue. Cavaliers have a multitude of health problems and most that come into rescue need extensive veterinary treatment.

• All of our dogs will be vaccinated, microchipped, neutered/spayed, have flea treatment and will be wormed prior to being rehomed (unless there is a medical reason why this cannot take place). They will also receive any other necessary veterinary care including dentals, heart scans etc. You will also receive 4 weeks of free Petplan insurance for dogs under 9 years.

All adopter’s resident dogs must be neutered unless there is a medical reason why this cannot be carried out, we will require a letter from the applicant’s vet if this is the case.

• Once your application form has been completed and returned you will receive an email to inform you that we have received your application. If you do not receive this email please contact us: [email protected]. Unfortunately, we cannot inform every unsuccessful candidate.

• If your home fits the dog’s needs then you will be contacted by the application team. A telephone interview with the adoption team will take place if the dog is a suitable match.

• A home check prior to meeting the dog will apply – this must be undertaken within 3 days of your telephone interview. You may also be required to give references ie from your veterinarian. If you work from home we do require a copy of your employment contract stating that you are working from home permanently.

• If your home check is successful you will then be offered the opportunity to meet the dog with a view to adopt. You and all members of your family will need to be present for the meet and greet which will take place outside at the foster home. Meet and greets must take place no longer than 5 days from the home check.

• We will not hold dogs due to holidays or illness etc. Please do not submit an application form until you are ready to commit and have discussed it with all family members.

• Bliss Cavalier Rescue will always be on hand to support you with any questions you may have going forwards.

• Our procedures are carried out to ensure the safety and well being of every dog that is rescued and rehomed. We will always take individual circumstances into account and are more than happy to discuss any concerns that you have via email.

• Please do not telephone the rescue regarding applications, we are more than happy to discuss anything via email.
