Winter, affectionately known as Winnie, is a 6-year-old diva princess who came into rescue from a family home under sad circumstances. She is now looking for her forever home.
She adores attention, kisses, and cuddles, and has settled beautifully into foster care, revealing her cheeky and loving personality. Winnie is full of character and devotion, showing just how much she cares for her humans. If they cough or sneeze, she’s quick to rush to their side, wrapping her paws around their neck and smothering their face to ensure they’re okay.
Winnie is an easy girl to have around the house. She lets you know when she needs to go outside and has made great progress with her training on walks. She has improved a lot, but she can still get overstimulated. Sometimes, she acts bossy with other dogs and barks. However, with guidance, she is learning how to approach gently, sniff politely, and move on. Sometimes, she can over-sniff, but she’s improving and picking up her doggy manners.
She sleeps well at night in her foster mum’s bedroom and is fine being left alone for short periods. However, she does need her human to be around most of the time. While in foster care, Winnie has had a major dental, been spayed, and started on inexpensive medication for CM/SM. She is also getting treatment for dry eye. She will need to keep using these medications to live a happy and pain-free life.
Winnie deserves a special family to complete her happiness. She would prefer to be adopted as an only dog, but only if she gets enough human attention. She can be adopted with children aged 11 and older. Winter does not like cats.
