About Penny

Penny is the sweetest girl but sadly she has some very serious health problems.

Penny came into rescue from a pet home. Immediately it became very clear that she has severe Syringomyelia, she had not been on any medication so the pain was unbearable for her. She is now on a combination of medication that needs to be tweaked further still until we can get her more comfortable. Syringomyelia cannot be cured and she will always suffer to some extent with this condition, we hope we can help her be as pain free as possible.

Sadly Penny also has a loud heart murmur and will be having an Echo with a view to starting her on heart medication. Penny came to us with an anal gland abscess, this is now getting better with antibiotics.

Penny also has 2 luxating knees, one is permanently luxating and will require surgery once she has put some weight on and gained some muscle. We are unsure of the other at the moment and will review as she gains condition.

We are all so sad for Penny and there are difficult choices ahead with regard to the treatment we can put her through. Our immediate priority is ensuring she isn't in any pain and we know we have a long road ahead. For this reason we cannot accept any applications for Penny for the foreseeable future but we will keep you updated on her progress.
