About Fleur and Bertie

Fleur and Bertie are beautiful Cavaliers that came into rescue as a closely bonded pair in sad circumstances. They are looking for their forever home together.

Bertie is an 8 year old Black and Tan and Fleur is a 5 year old Blenheim. Bertie and Fleur both walk very well on a lead and love to explore and sniff whilst out on their walks. There is no reaction to other dogs or people whilst out on a walk. They very much enjoy and need good quality walks so their adopter must be fit and able to walk them enough.

Fleur is definitely the fitter of the two, she is absolutely full of energy both on a walk and in the house. Bertie loves to be on your knee most of the time but Fleur will happily go and lay on the dog bed. Both dogs sleep in the bedroom and on the bed cuddled up together.

Bertie and Fleur both travel well in the car, they have been on the back seat with a seat belt, this need to be short as Bertie will try to get to the front for your knee. Bertie can be like a cheeky thief and will take things from your bag or climb upon tables for food! They have never been left alone at home for longer than short periods due to lockdown so we don't know how well they would cope being left for any longer than this.

They will chase and bark at cats but will not attack them. Both dogs are trained in very basic commands, they will sit for dinner when told and will come in when called. Bertie loves to have a little play and chew with a soft toy. Fleur loves to have a good tug of war and plays really nice and gets quite excited!

Bertie has a grade 4 heart murmur, following his echo he started taking heart medication. He is well controlled and doesn't have any symptoms currently. Fleur has a grade 3 murmur, she has had an echo and doesn't need medication yet. Both dogs have luxating knees, this doesn't currently affect them, they are not painful and both exercise well with no issues. They could go on to have arthritis in their latter years, or need surgery so this needs to be considered before applying.

They are looking for an active family and would really appreciate their humans to play and exercise a lot with them. They need plenty of stimulation. They can be rehomed with children over 10 years.

Fleur and Bertie are in foster in Pontefract, Yorkshire. The successful applicant must live within 90 minutes of the foster home. More information regarding our latest Covid-19 protocol will be made available following a successful telephone interview and home check.
