About Woody
Woody is a 4-year-old Cavalier who has been through a lot but is now ready for his forever home. When he first came into rescue, undiagnosed Chiari pain meant he couldn’t bear to be touched. Within 24 hours of starting medication, he was a different dog and became cuddly, affectionate, and wanted nothing more than tummy rubs and kisses.
Since then, Woody has had neutering and two dentals in foster, which have made a huge difference to his comfort and behaviour. With his pain under control, he has blossomed into a loyal, loving boy who adores his humans. He loves cuddles, attention, and playtime, and has the cheeky Cavalier habit of nibbling his foster dad’s ears when he comes home from work!
Woody still has some old habits from the days when he had to guard himself due to pain. He can be wary of strangers and big or boisterous dogs, and he doesn’t like intact males. However, with careful socialisation and confidence building, he’s learning quickly and is now happily walking with regular dog friends and the resident dogs in foster.
He is very food-motivated, which has been a big help in training and meeting new people. Even at the vet, he’ll take a treat happily. Woody absolutely loves toys, especially his ball; he’d happily play fetch all day if he could! With his high energy and love of food, he’ll need plenty of exercise to keep him balanced.
Woody sleeps soundly on his foster mum’s bed and often sneaks into the crook of her arm during the night for a cuddle. He is fine to be left for short periods, but really needs someone home most of the time. Once he bonds with you, he won’t want to leave your side.
This lovely boy needs a patient and understanding home where his adopters will continue to support his confidence and socialisation. In return, Woody will give endless loyalty, love, and kisses.
