About Rocky

Rocky is a sweet four year old Blenheim Cavalier who came into rescue from a pet home.

He’s very affectionate and loves to stay close by for lots of cuddles and playtime with his toys, especially games of fetch!

He is a bit of a fussy eater, requiring patience at mealtimes. This sometimes includes hand feeding, particularly at breakfast time where he is reluctant to eat until after his morning walk, and less so for his evening meal. As a result of his delicate size and occasional reluctance to eat, it would be important to help him with this in order to keep him at a healthy weight.

Rocky absolutely loves being outside for walks, however can be nervous around roads and sometimes hides between people’s legs when walking. He is confident on a flexi lead and enjoys the countryside, where he is probably most suited. He has two thirty-minute walks every day and would likely be happier with more than this as he is always full of energy!

When not out walking, he needs to be kept busy as he is a fidget and loves to play, although doesn’t quite understand the art of playing with other dogs! In addition to this, Rocky likes to bark at birds and squirrels in the garden so would be best in a home without cats as he might try to chase them. He isn’t the biggest fan of sleeping during the day so would be best suited with an active adopter who is around all day and ready to keep him busy.

Rocky can be timid, however he has become much more confident with time, patience, love and attention. He would be most comfortable in a home without young children so that he has the space to settle and feel secure, and with either no other dogs or a calm older one to help with his confidence. He is desperate to please and although he had a few accidents when he first arrived in his foster home, he has overcome this with regular reminders to go outside.

He is currently on medication for Chiari Malformation and mild Syringomyelia symptoms, which has improved things. He will need to remain on this medication and it is possible he will need further medication in the future.

Rocky is in foster in Wetherby, North Yorkshire. The successful applicant must live within 90 minutes of the foster home. More information regarding our latest Covid-19 protocol will be made available following a successful telephone interview and home check.
