About Chase

Chase is a 3 year old Tricolour Cavalier that came into rescue from a pet home.

Chase is ready to start looking for his forever home. Please read his write up below very carefully before applying. It is long but he came into rescue due to behavioural issues and it is very important that you understand his needs and very special requirements for his forever family.

Chase really doesn’t like other dogs, he has dog fear aggression and would love nothing more than a family in a rural location with lots of private space to run and burn off his huge amounts of energy without seeing any other dogs. He loves to play frisbee and ball but the area must be very secure as his recall is currently non-existent!

When Chase sees another dog on walks, in the car or out of a window at home, he gets very stressed, working himself into a frenzy, barking, walking on his back legs, jumping and twirling and pulling very hard!

Chase is a big cavalier - closer to Springer Spaniel in size and he is a very strong boy so you will need to be strong and confident handling him. Since coming in to rescue Chase is walking better on his lead and is enjoying taking the time to sniff the world around him. This is a big step forward! Chase is very intelligent and learns fast with everything except other dogs.

Chase loves his foodables and can be motivated and sometimes distracted by food. Inside the home Chase is almost the perfect dog! Unfortunately, his dislike of dogs extends to all animals on the TV and he will bark and get really wound up at the TV and has jumped at the TV in the past. He also doesn’t like dogs walking past his home and is not allowed access to a window where he can see them.

At bedtime Chase will settle in his bed in the kitchen but if you will allow him to sleep upstairs with you that would be even better! Chase loves hoomans and loves a good cuddle! He gives the best greeting and is always very happy to see you.

Chase is not going to be an easy or quick fix dog and you must be prepared to work with him on an ongoing basis for his behavioural issues, you will need a lot of patience and you might need to work with a behaviourist. Chase only 3 years old and has worked with behaviourists in the past but his dislike of other dogs is deep-set and not something he will overcome easily, if at all. Chase has already had quite a few homes so his new family really do need to be his forever family.

To sum it up, Chase needs a rural home and very strictly no other pets. You must be very active as he has a lot of energy to burn and will need decent very rural walks and/or a large secure area to run fast and play. Chase cannot be rehomed with children due to the way he reacts when he sees dogs, we wouldn’t want him to scare or accidentally hurt anyone.
