About Billy

Billy is a 16-month-old Cavalier with a lot of love to give โ€” but heโ€™s had a difficult start. He has already had two homes, and heโ€™s understandably confused and anxious. Now things need to start from scratch โ€” helping Billy learn how to be a dog, at his own pace.

Billy doesnโ€™t yet understand whatโ€™s expected of him and needs someone willing to guide him through basic training with kindness and patience. Right now, everything is a bit scary. He barks at unfamiliar dogs and lacks confidence in new situations, but weโ€™re starting to see glimpses of the cheeky, loving boy underneath.

He has previously shown signs of resource guarding, though this behaviour has not yet been observed in foster. Itโ€™s something to be aware of and managed positively through clear boundaries and consistency.

He loves other Cavaliers and could benefit from living with a friendly resident dog who can help show him the ropes. He was showing signs of Chiari malformation pain, including restlessness and panting in the evenings, but is responding well to medication.

Billy needs a home that can offer structure, socialisation, gentle guidance, and time. In return, youโ€™ll get to watch a young Cavalier blossom, and thereโ€™s truly nothing more rewarding than that.

๐Ÿก Adoption Criteria

๐Ÿก Type of home required:ย  A calm but active, experienced home with someone home most of the time. Billy needs patient, positive training, lots of socialisation, and support through his anxiety. No cats, no young children, and ideally a resident dog for companionship. Previous history of resource guarding, though this has not yet been seen in foster โ€“ any adopter must be confident in managing and preventing guarding behaviours.
