About Alex

Alex is a 7-month-old Blenheim Cavalier who came into rescue due to the very sad circumstance of his owner becoming very sadly terminally ill. He is now ready for his next chapter, and it needs to be an active one.

Let’s be very clear: Alex is not a calm, cuddly, sit-on-the-sofa-all-day puppy.

He is a full-of-beans, zoomie-loving, always-on-the-go young dog who wakes up ready for action and rarely sits still for long. He is curious, energetic, playful and constantly busy. If you are looking for a laid-back companion, Alex is not the right match. If you are looking for a joyful, engaging, slightly chaotic bundle of enthusiasm, then you might be his person.

Alex absolutely thrives on other dogs. Since being in foster, he has gained huge confidence from canine companionship, and for that reason he must live with at least one other young, friendly, playful dog.

He loves interaction, stimulation and being involved. He needs an adopter who enjoys training, enrichment and proper walks, not just a quick trip around the block. Alex requires at least two good walks every day, along with mental stimulation and structured play. When his needs are met, he is a fantastic, affectionate little dog. When they are not, he will find his own entertainment, and it may not be the kind you’d choose.

As with all puppies, Alex will need ongoing socialisation and consistent training as he matures. He is clever and engaged, but he will not β€œgrow out of” puppy behaviour without guidance. His adopters must be prepared to invest time, energy and patience into helping him become a well-balanced adult.

Alex is good with children, loves people, and is a bright, happy young Cavalier with a huge amount of potential. He simply needs a home that matches his pace of life.

He will thrive in an active household where energy is welcomed, walks are part of daily routine, and another dog is there to wrestle, learn from and grow alongside.

In the right home, Alex will be incredible. But he is not for everyone, and that’s absolutely okay.
